The Packham is the most delicious pear we have! The outer skin is bumpy and pale yellow, encasing sweet, juicy white flesh. The Packham does not change color as it matures, but softens slightly as it ripens and gives off a tantalizing fragrance. A specialty pear, it has somewhat of a short, stout shape compared to other varieties.
Originally called Packham’s Triumph, this variety was developed by Henry Packham in 1896 and is considered to be his greatest success. A cross of Uvedale St. Germain and a Williams pear, the Packham was a hit from its initial introduction to the Australian market, and quickly achieved success worldwide.
