Organic Red Bartlett Pears

A bud sport that sprouted on a regular Bartlett tree near Zilla, Washington, Red Bartlett was first discovered in 1938. Unlike other bud sports, this one proved to be highly marketable.
An elegant companion to its gold and green counterparts, Red Bartlett adds a beautiful contrast of color on the shelf. Nearly identical to the classic Bartlett in flavor and texture, Red Bartlett is set apart by burnished copper stripes cloaking its yellow-green underlay. Red Bartletts change in flavor and texture as they mature, offering a range of sensations to the discerning palate. Crunchy and tart when under-ripe, they make a wonderful addition to salads and crudité. Fully ripened, they embody the classic Bartlett sweetness and juicy, tender flesh that make these pears the crème de la crème.
